RAJA was formed in 1976 as a social organization for Army JAG retirees who wish to stay in contact with each other. Excluding spouses, it is presently composed of about 400 members and associate members.

Regular membership is limited to commissioned and warrant officers who are retired members of the regular or a reserve component of the Army, including the Army Reserve and the National Guard. Associate members are widows and widowers of regular members.

Dues are five dollars per year for regular members and their spouses and two dollars per year for widows and widowers. Life membership is one hundred dollars.

Each year, the organization holds a membership meeting. The annual meeting rotates among three sections of the country--East, Central, and West.

The Office of The Judge Advocate General maintains a website that contains current information about the Corps. For more information about it please see the Members Only page.

Message from Tim Naccarato

RAJA 2009 was held in the Big Easy (New Orleans) from May 25-28 and it totally rocked, as my students would say. The Hotel Monteleone in the French Quarter was the perfect location for walking tours and excursions to taste local creole and cajun favorites. Our primary hosts, the Hunts and Cramers, surprised us at the icebreaker on Monday evening with a three-piece jazz band to accompany a magnificent buffet dinner. Then we had music again at the banquet on Wednesday evening at Dickie Brennan’s Bourbon House Restaurant. No formal suit was needed for the banquet, but a Mardi Gras hat or mask was required attire.

Many thanks to our hosts, Dennis and Jeanne Hunt and Mike and Lennard Cramer. They were assisted by Ben Anderson, Tony and Josette Bonfanti, Ron and Linda Howell, and Jim (Rosey) Rosenblatt. Special mention goes to Dr. Michele Cramer Spector, daughter of the Cramers, who sang “America the Beautiful” and “Memory” at the banquet. Thanks to each for a terrific meeting.

In 2010, we will be at the Hilton Hotel in downtown Indianapolis from June 4-7 (Friday-Monday). Steve and Pauline Lancaster will be our hosts. Start your engines!
