RAJA was formed in 1976 as a social organization for Army JAG retirees who wish to stay in contact with each other. Excluding spouses, it is presently composed of about 400 members and associate members. Regular membership is limited to commissioned and warrant officers who are retired members of the regular or a reserve component of the Army, including the Army Reserve and the National Guard. Associate members are widows and widowers of regular members. Dues are five dollars per year for regular members and their spouses and two dollars per year for widows and widowers. Life membership is one hundred dollars. Each year, the organization holds a membership meeting. The annual meeting rotates among three sections of the country--East, Central, and West. Message from Tim Naccarato RAJA 2008 in Atlanta from May 23-26 was a fantastic success! We stayed in the downtown Embassy Suites hotel and walked to the restaurants and attractions. I am now close personal friends with Ted Turner since several of us toured the CNN Center. Others toured the Coke Museum or the Aquarium, all within easy walking distnce. Many thanks to our hosts--Jim and Lois Gerstenlauer, Rob and Bridget Minor, Dick Snyder and Jim Hatten. They organized a wonderful meeting. The bus tour visited the Civil War’s Cyclorama and Stone Mountain, and we ate authentic southern food at Mary Mac’s Tea Room. There is no better peach cobbler in Georgia than at Mary Mac’s. In 2009, we will be in New Orleans from May 25-28 (Monday-Thursday). Bring your beads and dancing shoes! Tim
